Our data-rich marketplace and formulation tools have enabled brands to create thousands of sustainable products, suppliers to list thousands of raw materials, and manufacturers to seamlessly purchase them all in one place.
What we are looking for
Our marketplace account executive will own and execute on new account prospecting, sign-ups, demos, and continued growth. The ideal candidate has an excellent network of contract manufacture relationships with a history of personal care chemical sales and is passionate about sustainability and clean beauty.
What you'll do
Build effective customer relationships through business calls and effective customer entertainment
Attending key trade shows and conferences to obtain updated market information and to represent our company
Travel is an essential function of the role by visiting current and potential customers; developing strategies and implementing plans to grow profitable sales
Develop and maintain effective relationships with multiple external customers
Achieve year-over-year annual sales growth and gross margin targets
Develop new sales business in territory for new and existing customers
Cultivate strategic relationships with key customers, partners, and industry personnel
Responsible for coordination with Marketplace Operations to insure accurate inventory levels and overall customer satisfaction
Possess and/or rapidly acquire technical product and manufacturing process knowledge
Partner with Customer and Supplier Success stakeholders to help inform catalog growth and ensure the successful transaction of orders
Communicate material updates, and account priorities to Novi's external buyers so overall user experience is high quality and repeatable
Review purchasing activities at scale to identify lags and opportunities for improvement and report to the broader team
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in a sales position with a proven record of success (direct chemical distribution/sales experience strongly preferred)
Bachelor’s degree (Technical Science, Chemistry preferred)
Hunter's mentality and ability to speed up the sales cycle by engaging effectively in closing conversations with the customer
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop/nurture strong, successful business relationships with customers as well as internal teammates
Excellent computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint as well as CRM platforms such as Hubspot
Strong discernment, including an understanding of the business relationship between manufacturers, distributors, and end-users of chemical products and services
You are results and systems-oriented with excellent organizational skills
You are data-savvy. You can measure the performance of your pipeline and understand levers to improve the customer experience and sales cycle
You are empathetic and have the ability to take the initiative in doing the right thing for the customer
You are a great teammate and are resilient in the face of challenges, ambiguity, change
Nice to have
Related industry experience with a background in technology and e-commerce ecosystems
Experience with Excel and managing large data sets
Experience at early-stage start-ups
