What You’ll Do.

THE ROLE: SENIOR SALES DIRECTOR, WALMART/SAM'S CLUB

EMJ is looking for a passionate, experienced, and driven Senior Sales Director to further accelerate our business at Walmart/Sam’s Club, a top strategic customer, and take the relationship to the next level proven out through velocity growth, innovation development & acceptance, Growth Summit engagement, off-shelf display support, and continued growth. A proactive attitude and the ability to deliver consistently within a values-driven company with frequently evolving priorities is crucial to the role. The capacity to make decisions and work independently with limited direction while retaining an efficiency and growth-focused mindset will be key. This involves leading the team through motivation, creating clear strategy, driving structure to support growth of current business while uncovering new business opportunities and account ownership over a lead national retailer business.

The Senior Sales Director reports directly to the VP Sales with additional support from Sales Planning, Brand, Marketing and Shopper Marketing. Opportunities for new experiences to demonstrate leadership and growth are limitless.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop, build and track a comprehensive business plan working cross-functionally to focus on key innovation and execute activation plans both in-store and digitally, using insight to ensure that the Brand and Marketing strategies are represented in the retailer environment to hit specific KPI's. Ability to recruit talent, develop and lead a team to drive efficient and sustainable growth with role clarity and priority focus across the EMJ and Accenture teams to maximize efforts and results, while developing team members individually to support new skills and career growth.
  • Cross-functional Partnership: Partner with Brand, Marketing, and E-commerce teams to enhance the brand’s visibility both online and in stores. Work closely with Supply chain and store operations to ensure efficient inventory management and product availability. Align strategies with Walmart’s digital and omnichannel goals to drive seamless customer experiences.
  • Drive Customer Relationship & Contribution: Build strong partnerships with key retailer leaders to influence Growth Summit meetings and NACDS engagement. Identify levers to drive continue growth through core velocity, new innovation acceptance, POD expansion, and lower funnel executions to reach our core consumer. Advance broker strategy to best support the team and drive focus & role clarity with quarterly measurement of joint expectations.
  • Category Growth & Performance: Own and manage the P&L for the full business, ensuring financial targets are met. Turn sales data, market trends, and consumer insights into action with category growth and development of annual forecast. Optimize in-store and online product assortments, pricing, and promotional strategies, working to drive growth while spending with trade budget rate.

THE CANDIDATE

Candidates must be highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills and experience working cross-functionally. While this candidate is driven and hits key milestones, also has a remarkable ability to remain calm and flexible in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, high growth collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be an intelligent team player – someone approachable with a positive, innovative and professional attitude who works smarter, not harder, and takes on a “sleeves-rolled-up” and a “can-do” attitude when faced with challenges. A true ambassador for EMJ, both internally and externally.

CAPABILITIES + SKILLS REQUIRED

    • 15 years working in a sales role for a CPG company, 10+ years recent experience working with Walmart/Sam’s Club.
    • 5-7 years of people leadership experience, preferably local.
    • High-drive individual with a passion to learn, contribute, problem solve, take initiative, and clearly communicate.
    • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and ability to execute with a willingness to be held accountable for delivering superior results on time and on budget.
    • Ability to independently assess data and integrate into selling stories with a proven track record of delivering consistent positive business results.
    • Must be results oriented, a team player possessing strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships within the retailer, Team EMJ, broker, and external vendor partners.
    • Strong work ethic and ability to excel in remote sales environment with limited oversight, while managing a team.
    • Demonstrated ability to make thoughtful, strategic business decisions and provide clear and consistent direction.
    • Strong technical skills: Google Suite, forecasting tools, and other required computer applications.
