Position Summary:

The GIS Analyst I position provides GIS-based mapping services to the engineering and Network Operations Center to support planning, engineering, and operations company-wide. The position requires proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and a demonstrated knowledge of data entry. GIS experience is preferred but not required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

A GIS Analyst I is a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt/hourly position. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday 7am-4pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:

Occasional travel may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

GIS Analyst I position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to learn and execute simple mapping duties.
  • Create, update, and maintain internal database for network and material design.
  • Collaborate with GIS team members to ensure all projects are on schedule, performed efficiently, and are of the highest quality.

Specific Job Requirements:

  • Attain an overall understanding of all GIS Analyst I skills listed in this section
  • Navigate various GIS platforms and software including 3-GIS and ArcGIS.
  • Create and edit large quantities of point, line, and polygon data.
  • Run various ArcGIS tools.
  • Compile data into a contiguous buildable network.
  • Interpret and input engineering files. Frequently review engineering and construction documents for data accuracy.
  • Support engineering and construction teams by creating/exporting maps, KMZ files, shapefiles, and spreadsheets.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable in telecom outside plant work or similar/related work is preferred.
  • Experience with GIS not required but preferred.
  • Other responsibilities and duties assigned as needed.

Pay Scale:

Starting Rate: $23-27/hour to start
