Who we are

Visual Electric is a Sequoia-backed startup, building a new class of design tool powered by artificial intelligence. We are designers, creative technologists, machine learning experts, and AI-optimists. Our mission is to unlock human creativity by empowering artists and designers.

We have raised $2.5MM led by Sequoia with participation from Box Group, Designer Fund, and angel investors including Andy Allen, Gentry Underwood, Joseph Cohen, Lachy Groom, Soleio Cuervo, Ty Wilkins, and many more.

Meet the team

Today we are three cofounders (plus Zoe the Bernedoodle). We will be growing our team slowly and intentionally over the next year.

  • Colin Dunn (CEO) is an entrepreneur, designer, and product builder who has been working on productivity and creation tools for over 10 years. Most recently he led the brand and product design orgs at Universe, a mobile website builder. Prior to that he was Head of Product Design at Playspace (acq. by Google), an all-in-one video conferencing app. He has also worked at Facebook, Dropbox, and Pentagram.
  • Adam Menges (CPO) is a 2× acquired founder and has been working on machine learning and design tools for over 10 years. He co-founded Lobe (acq. by Microsoft), a visual design tool that allows anyone to train their own machine learning model. He also cofounded Lowkey (acq. by Niantic), an AR game company. Prior to that he worked at Apple on various prototypes using machine learning as their core.
  • Zach Stiggelbout (CTO) is a multi-disciplinary engineer specializing in user interfaces and machine learning applications. He worked at Microsoft on Lobe, a visual design tool that allows anyone to train their own machine learning model. Prior to that, he co-founded Arc Reactor, an engineering/design studio, and worked at the University of Washington on human interfaces for surgical robots.
