The Opportunity

As Novi Connect expands, we are looking for a mission-driven and skilled Developer Experience Engineer to optimize our software development processes, tools, and environments. This role is crucial to ensuring that our developers can focus on writing and debugging code efficiently while improving the observability of our systems. You will work across teams – primarily with Platform, Product, and Infrastructure – to streamline workflows, optimize CI/CD, and ensure robust tooling for a seamless developer experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

Software Development Processes:
Optimize and maintain local development workflows for our engineers across multiple languages and frameworks, including Python (Django), Rails, TypeScript, Terraform, Shell scripting, and PostgreSQL.
Enhance branch-based deployments and testing tools to streamline feature development.
CI/CD Pipeline Optimization:
Manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, focusing on maximizing efficiency for branch-based workflows across multiple repositories.
Automate workflows and processes to streamline GitHub repository management.
Code Quality and Coverage:
Implement and manage code quality tools (e.g., Ruff) and testing frameworks (e.g., PyTest) across codebases.
Integrate performance profiling and debugging tools to provide actionable feedback.
Logging and Observability:
Build and maintain a scalable logging infrastructure, ensuring reliable and searchable logs across services.
Extend Datadog integration, supporting logs, APM, and metrics for robust system observability.
Developer Support and Troubleshooting:
Support engineering teams with hands-on troubleshooting in local development, CI/CD, and production environments.
Conduct root cause analysis and build resilient tooling, with on-call support for developer-related issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Product, Platform, and Infrastructure teams on strategic developer experience initiatives.
Optimize infrastructure, compute, storage, and networking with the Infrastructure team on AWS architecture.

About You

5+ years of experience in Developer Experience, DevOps, or a related field.
Proficiency in managing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and developer tools across Python, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, Terraform, Shell.
Experience with Docker and managing local development environments.
Expertise in code quality tools (e.g., Ruff) and testing frameworks (e.g., PyTest).
Strong understanding of logging and observability, with experience transitioning from Datadog agents to OpenTelemetry or similar.
Familiarity with AWS and infrastructure as code.
Collaborative and communicative, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and optimization.
Nice to Have
Experience with large-scale production environments and distributed systems.
Knowledge of distributed tracing tools like OpenTelemetry.

$110,000 - $150,000 USD Annual Salary
